ABOUT

Ricky Chen is visual artist based in London, he creates origami sculptures in response to the natural world. Inspired by our fragile environment he explores the hidden boundaries of geometric manmade sculptural works in contrast to the organic natural world. With the usage of different origami folding techniques to manipulate the mundane material of paper into various natural forms. Utilising origami to produce variety of sculptural forms addressing the beauty and threat of nature. Playing with micro and macro scales to broaden the perception of nature, exploring the physical world or universe. The sculptural forms are embedded with the meaning and symbolism of flowers and human relationships with the natural world.
